This section aims to answer some of the questions you may have about the practicalities of coaching.
How and where?
Finding the right coach is essential. Coaching won’t work unless you feel able to build up trust with your coach and talk freely with them. Sometimes this means that you may want to work with a coach who is outside your geographical area.
Wherever possible we like to work with clients face-to-face but for the reasons above and because of other pressures of modern life it may not be practical to have all sessions face-to-face. We therefore offer the option of telephone coaching – usually after we have had at least one face-to-face sessions.
Face-to-face sessions will take place at a venue to suit you. Tthis could range from your place of work, a ‘neutral’ venue such as a hotel, or conference venue, your home or the coach's home-office.
We try to work with clients over a period of 12 sessions – usually over a three to six month period. This 12 session period is common practice within coaching and allows time for us to build up a working relationship together. 12 sessions allows time for you to identify and work on developing aspects of a specific issue or project, or to work on several different issues in depth. You will also be able to build on your learning as you apply your coaching discoveries between sessions.
Some coaching arrangements may naturally extend beyond this initial 12-session period, for example on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
We can be flexible and are happy to discuss with you coaching periods which last for a shorter period or specific needs, such as group coaching.
